Family Beltane is a bright and beautiful Beltane celebration. Children, accompanied by their adults, can come together and explore through the mediums of storytelling, face-painting and arts and crafts the changing of the seasons which leads to the birth of summer in the safe and welcoming environment of the Scottish Story Telling Centre in Edinburgh’s city centre.
The event takes place from 1:30pm till 4:30pm on Saturday 23rd April. Audiences are welcome to drop in at any point between these times, or stay for the full event duration. It is and is free and non-ticketed, however attendees are welcome to make a donation to the Beltane Fire Society via a donation box at the event towards the running costs of the event.
This popular annual event is a lovely introduction for children over 5 years of age to all of the skills and traditions that are employed during the creative preparations behind the annual night time celebration of the Beltane Fire Festival.
The event is organised by the Beltane Fire Society, a registered charity run by volunteers, dedicated to marking the fire festivals of the ancient celtic calendar and keeping traditional Scottish skills of street theatre, music and pageantry alive.
Not suitable for children under 5. All children must be accompanied.
