Samhuinn 2015 is over and updated information will be posted in time for next year’s festival.

I’m Sara, and I’m back once again to be the Event Coordinator for Samhuinn. This is my third festival with the society, and I’m looking forward to jumping into the breach once more…

It’s my job to take care of all the fiddly bits of the festival so that our participants don’t have to: licences, permits and permissions, publicity, and liaising with the police, council, parks and contractors – where my role is part Babel fish, part buffer. I work with Tech and Stewards to make sure that we don’t set anything on fire that shouldn’t be, and the only injuries are those which, as we say, are ritually significant.

I work with Blues and Group Organisers to ensure that the event comes together, and that everyone knows where they’re supposed to be and when. There’s a fair bit of paperwork involved, including the event plan and our various risk assessments, I represent the society at the EPOG and run our weekly GO meetings.

Some people call me the Grand High Hippy Herder, I couldn’t possibly comment…
