The Cailleach is the Goddess of death and rebirth. As part of my embodiment this year I am focusing on the period between death and rebirth, in the moments after the storm has passed, where we gather ourselves and reflect. Leaving behind that which we have no need to carry with us through the winter and planting seeds in the earth to allow them to grow their roots deep and strong, before they burst into life above the ground.
As such I would like to invite the community and beyond to contribute to a ritual.
This ritual involves reflecting on the last year and writing down the things you want to shed and on a separate note writing something you would like to plant in order to develop and grow roots before bursting into life.
The notes for letting go will be burned by myself around Samhuinn in order for them to be let go for the winter. The notes for planting seeds will be placed in a box that I will keep safe throughout the winter to be handed over to the May Queen, Alix Prybyla, at Imbolc who will then arrange for the notes to be placed in the fire at Beltane, to release those intentions into the summer.
If you would like to participate, Beltane performers can pass handwritten notes to me through their Group Organisers, or anyone can email cailleachnotes@beltane.org (This email will be monitored by myself and my trusted helpers).
Please clearly mark in the notes/emails what part you want released at Samhuinn and what you would like released at Beltane.
With love and care,
Your Cailleach, Hannah.
