If you would like to be involved with this year’s Samhuinn festival procession, our Support Team is still recruiting at the moment. The Support Team are there to help out in whatever way is needed.
Mostly this might take the form of Stewarding. This can involve holding a safe space for the performance, ensuring that the audience are not anywhere dangerous and acting as a guide for members of the public.
Another aspect is Bucketeering. Since this event does cost a good deal of money to make it happen and it is unticketed, we do rely on donations on the night from the crowd. To do this, we need some of our team to get out there and encourage our audience to donate.
Whilst we are present on the night we will probably be asked questions. From “What the bloody feck is going on?” to “How do I get involved in this next time?”. We would like to ensure all our team is confident and relaxed when it comes to talking about the event or Society. Or at very least can hand out a flyer and mumble “Facebook us”.
Speaking of Facebook, we will have an opportunity to engage with our audience by taking pictures of them, handing them a flyer and encouraging them to tag themselves or friends on our page the next day.
We will also have some people taking images of the performers and core event. These will be used to promote the work we do as a Society and help chronicle how we celebrated Samhuinn 2012.
There will also be a chance to help form a Street Team to go out and distribute flyers and posters at certain intervals. This is vital to spreading the word locally.
You do not have to do all of these things. We seek to provide a relaxed, fun and informed environment where everyone can find their niche and fill it as they deem fit.
If this is your first BFS event and you’d like to dip your toe in, come join us. If it’s your umpteenth event but you have time commitment issues, speak to us.
You can get in touch with the Support Team Directors, Tanya & Zander, by emailing email@example.com and we’ll be happy to answer questions and sign you up.
