What a fantastic Beltane! Whilst you all wind down and relax after your spectacular efforts, work does not stop for the Board of Directors. We’re busy planning our next Annual General Meeting (AGM) and there will be an announcement about it soon.
The AGM is an important opportunity for you, our members to create the future of BFS for the next year. The main item on the agenda will be the election of the Board of Directors. This is your chance to vote for the people you think should be responsible for the management of the society for the next year. This is your chance to BE the people responsible for the society! The Board of Directors has an obligation to act in the best interests of the society, to uphold our charitable objectives and our reputation and to manage the society on behalf of the membership. They have legal obligations to OSCR and Companies House, as well as their social and moral obligations to the society.
If you want to get more involved in the week to week running of the society, have time, dedication, skills and experience to give then why not consider standing to be on the Board. There will be more information going out about how to apply but if this interests you, start thinking now about your skills and what you could bring to the role.
The AGM is also a chance for the membership to vote on important changes to how the society is run. If you have any items you would like to be raised for voting at this meeting then please email scribe@beltane.org before the 21st May in order for it to be circulated to the membership for consideration and before the meeting. This has previously included items such as changing the date we celebrate Beltane, the voting system for selection of Directors, other changes to our Articles of Association etc.
