If you were in the Old Town in the early afternoon of Saturday 21st June, it would’ve been pretty difficult to miss the loud and proud Pride Scotia parade. Accompanied by beats from BFS drum crews – the Processionals, Beasties and Anansi – members of the Torchbearers and Contact Point marched with Beltaners in other community groups including the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and Gay Men’s Health, as well as Pride Stewards.
Tiger Strode, a BFS member who is involved with organising Pride, shared some words about the event and how it relates to our community. Pride Scotia is an accessible event held for the community to celebrate the equality and diversity that society has achieved and to remember those who died getting us here. We welcome everyone to join our volunteer run spectacle so that all may know that Scotland welcomes all sexual orientations and gender identities as a diverse and equal people.
As a Society, BFS promotes diversity and inclusion so we were super excited to take part in and support such an incredible celebration of LGBT people and allies!
