This Samhuinn, our Winter King and Summer King represent two aspects of the Green Man’s personality as he transitions between the seasons. As these two parts of himself struggle for influence and ultimately control, a conflict develops in his mind, playing out as a series of conversations between the idealistic side of himself and the pragmatic side.
Do you feel it brother?
The days growing shorter,
The darkness creeping in,
Little by little.
The leaves don’t cling as they once did,
What held firm now falls, softly,
Crisp under foot.
That chill in the air,
Their breath misting in the twilight.
She stirs, brother,
The colours change…the harbinger of what She brings.
She comes,
Whether we like it or not…
A passing fancy,
A sharp breeze,
Coincidence.
Life abounds and the earth put forth shoots,
Everything is ripening.
We have so much to give.
I won’t have it any other way.
There’s enough.
There’s always enough.
