The day before Beltane Fire Festival 2017, in the midst of all the preparations and setting up, we invited the wider community to come and join us on Calton Hill. The rain stayed away and folk of all ages took part in a programme of crafts, a neid fire demonstration, storytelling, drumming workshops, tours, talks, a wishing tree and more.
Some of the Beltane characters including the Foxes, Evergreens, May Queen and Green Man joined in too, with Castle Chorus providing some beautiful live music. Photopoint were there, capturing some beautiful images and in the background you can catch glimpses of Water Point’s Pirate Ship coming together, stages being built and that Fire Arch going up.
Thanks to everyone the helped out in any way, and to all those that came along to spend some time getting to know more about the story of Beltane. For all the images, check out this Facebook album and look out for them being uploaded to our Photo Archive very soon.
