Calling all drummers, dancers, acrobats, techies, torchies, clowns, fire spinners, singers, puppeteers, makers of devices, artists, lovers of artists, people who like to form barriers, stewards, dark creatures waking from summer slumbers, photographers, talkers, film-makers, people who aren’t any of these things but would like to be…
Come one, come all to the glorious 2018 Samhuinn Open Meeting!
We’d like YOU to join our hundreds of volunteers in creating a glorious display of fire and light on Calton Hill for an audience of thousands on the 31st October 2018.
The Samhuinn Fire Festival is Beltane Fire Society’s annual celebration of the end of summer and the coming of winter. Whether you’re a long time BFS member, a seasoned performer, or you want to come along for the first time and give something new a go, Samhuinn Fire Festival is a chance to learn new skills, meet new people, and be part of a warm and welcoming community creating a truly unique performance.
This year, for the first time, Samhuinn will be taking place on Calton Hill, this means we’ve got a chance to be creating a wholly new format for our annual festival!
WHY COME TO THIS OPEN MEETING?
We’ll break the festival down for you so you can learn about the performance and production groups you might want to join, talk to the organisers, get to know the story behind Samhuinn, and sign up to take part.
If you can’t make it but would still like to be involved, details of all performance and production groups (including contact information for the organisers) will be posted at beltane.org shortly before the Open Meeting. You can email the individual organisers to let them know you’d like to be considered for their group if you can’t sign up in person.
Let us know you’re coming and help alert fellow Beltane enthusiasts by registering your attendance through Facebook here. If you have any questions about about the venue, open meeting, or anything else about Samhuinn 2018, please email us at volunteers [at] beltane [dot] org.
